The search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI) is a collective term for the scientific search for intelligent extraterrestrial life. On October 10, 2016 SETI released a paper for publication under the title 'Discovery of peculiar periodic spectral modulations in a small fraction of solar type stars'. The paper states Extraterrestrial Intelligence as a likely hypothesis.
The recent paper states that two astronomers used data from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, and analyzed the spectra of 2.5 million stars. From all of the stars, they found discovered 234 stars that are producing light signals. The signals are not caused by instrumental or data analysis effects, the signals are not generated by molecules or rapid pulsations and it is highly unlikely that the signals come from the Fourier transform of spectral lines.

Intelligence to makes us aware of their existence."
"We find that the detected signals have exactly the shape of an ETI signal predicted in the previous publication and are therefore in agreement with this hypothesis. The fact that they are only
found in a very small fraction of stars within a narrow spectral range centered near the spectral type of the sun is also in agreement with the ETI hypothesis."
